Selleck Nicholls Homes have now achieved detailed planning permission for 22 affordable homes being offered through two schemes.

Work is due to commence in September 2009 with a phased release programme starting in March 2010.

Devon & Cornwall Housing will be offering 5 of these properties through their own Affordable Rented Scheme.  How to qualify for the new homes

To qualify fo one of the new homes, an applicant must meet the following essential housing need and local connection criteria:

Be in need of housing

This means that an applicant must be able to demonstrate that they currently occupy accommodation which is unsuitable and can prove that their income is too low to buy accomodation appropriate to their curcumstances on the open market.

Have a local connection

This means that the applicant must be able to demonstrate they have a local connection with the Parish of Callington or a neighbouring Parish or District by either;

(a)   being permanently resident therin for a continuous period of at least three (3) years immediately prior to the offer of the relevant Affordable Dwelling; or

(b)   having his or her place of work (not including seasonal employment) therein for a continuous period of at least three (3) years immediately prior to the offer of the relevant Affordable Dwelling; or

(c)   being formerly permantently resident or working (not including seasonal employment) therein for an aggregate period of five (5) years; or

(d)   having a connection through a resident parent or child who meets the criteria (a) or (b) of this definition subject to the relevant number of years in the particular criteria being amended to five (5) years.
